2,028 bottles of Pinot Noir from Ronco Calino's highest vineyard and completely vinified in stainless steel tanks, preserving the purity of fruit. A Franciacorta Riserva that rested ten years sur lie to enjoy the time needed to display its full potential. A wine with a very strong why that today, finally, we can tell you about.
The idea of “Pair” was born more than ten years ago, in 2013, a vintage that was as challenging as it was meaningful to us. 2013 is, indeed, the year that saw the beginning of our conversion to organic viticulture and the birth of Francesco and Sebastiano, Lara and Paolo's children.
And it is here that the choice of the name strongly desired by the founder of Ronco Calino, who sealed his latest creation just before saying goodbye to his beloved Franciacorta, is condensed. “Pair,” a word that, both in French and English, is spelled equally and lends itself to multiple meanings: pair, duo, couple, even. Indeed, we promise you that, one day, PAIR will be joined by its opposite but complementary “pair,” and will achieve the total fulfillment in the half that completes it.
Paolo Radici didn’t speak English, but he was fluent in French, having spent several years in Belgium. Affixing his signature on the new bottle, he immediately caught the reference to the sound of another French word that, in its brevity, encapsulates the essence of a life: père, father. Mr. Paolo has always shied away from the idea of producing a wine in his honor, but the choice of this name speaks volumes about the barely mentioned desire to be remembered above all as a father.
Franciacorta Brut Nature “Pair” Blanc de Noirs Riserva 2013 becomes fully part of the line “Le Rarità” and will be released only in the vintages “to remember,” in precious pine wood case with sliding lid in black color. We anticipate that the 2014 vintage will finish soon its rest sur lie and then, it will be succeeded by the 2017 vintage.
